ABIA Show, Blue Genie Retail, Spike’s Arts and Crafts Day and More

If you find yourself at Austin Bergstrom Intl Airport (ABIA) any time between now and mid October, please take a moment to check out the wonderful Handmade Austin Women exhibit on display upstairs. I’m so thrilled to be part of this wonderful group of talented women.

Also, Blue Genie Art will soon be opening a retail shop located at The Oasis. In rebuilding after the terrible fire out there, they have expanded the restaurant and they have designed and built a number of retail outlets next door to the restaurant. While not open just yet, the Blue Genie store will be open year round and for those of you familiar with the Blue Genie Art Bazaar, the store will be like a mini version of the Bazaar. More to come on this when I have details about the exact dates and times. I’ll have a large assortment of cards available at the BG store. Thanks Dana and Kevin!

Many of you know my dear friend Spike Gillespie, writer and blogger extraordinaire. This Sunday (August 14th), from 3:00-6:00, she’ll be hosting an all-around fun craft day at Book Woman here in Austin. This will be some terrific fun for all ages so please come by and check it out. Handmade Austin Women Spring Art Show!

If you’re in or around Austin this weekend, stop by and see us at the 6th Annual Handmade Austin Women’s Spring Art Show! This is an amazing group of artists and designers so come on by and see what everyone is working on this season.

This year, the show is being held at The Ballroom at SpiderHouse, at 2906 Fruth Street, right next door to Spider House in Austin, TX. The show runs April 30th & May 1st (Sat & Sun) from 11a.m to 6p.m.

Each toy is handmade with durable double-stranded acrylic yarn and is stuffed with a pouch of organic cat nip, a bell and some cotton material. I am very excited to announce that Whole Earth Provision Co. has chosen to carry a fun variety of my dog and cat cards, as well as The Magic Cat Balls! (Best Cat Toy Ever!) In Austin at 1014 North Lamar and at 4477 South Lamar Blvd. In San Antonio in the Quarry Market at 255 E. Basse Rd.. In Houston in the Galleria area at 2501 Post Oak Blvd. And in Dallas at 5400 East Mockingbird Lane and Preston Forest Center (11700 Preston Rd.)

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make it the best Blue Genie Art Bazaar yet! This last year was its 10th anniversary and Kevin, Dana, Rory, Chris and Co. really went all out to make it fantastic show. Thanks Guys!

If you have been keeping up with my friend Carl’s “You’ve Got Mail” Project then be sure to pencil in January 21st on your calendar. That evening, Carl will be showing much of the “art mail” he has received over this last year. It’ll be here in Austin and hopefully I’ll have details soon. I am very excited to announce that now CARDS, HAIR CLIPS, HATS and MAGIC CAT BALLS (Best Cat Toy EVER!) from Ann Woodall Studios can now be found at Moxie in Austin!

Kayci has chosen a wonderful new location for Moxie at 1200 E. 11th st (suite #105) in Austin, TX and has filled this terrific shop with all kinds of work from local artists and craftspeople… jewelry, clothing, prints, gifts… you name it! It’s also within walking distance of many other shops, eateries and bars so be sure to stop by and check it out.

And if you are out of town, the hats , hair clips, blankets and cat toys can be found on my Etsy page and cards and prints maybe be purchased right here on this site.

My friend Carl loves the art of correspondence. For fun, he sends to his friends cards, letters, pieces of board games with an address and a stamp stuck on it… and I have to say, it is a joy to receive these little treasures from him in the mail. Over this last year, Carl has taken his love of correspondence to a whole new level: He has opened it up to the world with his “You’ve got Mail” project, with the whole thing culminating in an art show (here in Austin, TX) presenting much of what he has and is continuing to receive.

Welcome to the new Ann Woodall Studios website! Now, finding cards, prints, hats and hair clips is just a click away. I’ll be adding new images regularly, as well as various fun and new items to the Etsy store… Cat toys, coming soon! Tested, approved and often lost under the piano by none other than Suki, Ohio and even Budwina. If you haven’t checked out the cards in awhile, the selection has quadrupled over the last few months and it continues to grow and grow. And at only $3 a card!

The Autumn and Winter shows will be here in no time and I’ll have all the information listed here on the site once I have it in hand. Also, I plan to use this blog and this site to introduce and showcase fellow artists, creative and innovative ideas and organizations, as well as just fun stuff that rolls across the path so be sure to keep us on your radar.
